On January 19, the Varsity boys basketball team played against the Vela Sabercats in a intense game. The boys played out all their strategies and gave it their all on the court, but the Bobcats did not take the win.

“The outcome was not what we expected but now this is an opportunity to continue working hard and get better, no matter the standards,” senior, Jaylen Lee said.

Instead of taking this loss as a negative blow the boys make this bitter feeling their drive and motivation to keep practicing so that when they face off against the Sabercats in the future they will take the W.

“I personally think I could have done better to help my team win; I hope to improve my skills. Winning is possible as long as we put defense first, believe in one another, and have support from the fans,” junior, Marc Figueroa said.

This particular game was against  a close city rival that drew in fans from both teams, leaving the gym’s bleachers full of supporters for the Bobcats.

“This was an important game that we needed to win, it might not have happened, but it really helped to have all the support from the fans because they really push us to keep fighting and never give up,” senior, Jorge Yruegas, said.

The Varsity boys played a good game even though it did not go as planned.

“As long as we never give up and keep up the hardwork and dedication we’ll be on roll headed straight for playoffs,” senior, Jose Cantu said.

The season is not over yet and the Bobcats are sure to train even harder, so that the next time they play against Vela they snatch the win.
