Last Friday, the varsity football team played their 1000th game in school history.

The game was played against longtime rival, the Mcallen Bulldogs.

“There’s a lot of history on that field,” Head Coach Guzman said.

Guzman is the new head coach who also played for the team back in the late 1980’s.

“I waited my whole life to come back and coach,” Guzman said.

“I was a bundle of mixed emotions; excited and eager. It was everything I thought it would be.”

Senior defensive back Albert Aremendariz also felt the emotions of the game.

“I felt the energy right from the kick off,” Armendariz said. “ I was pumped for my first game of senior season.”

Senior  linebacker Jonathan Duran also enjoyed the energy from the fans.

“It felt great that the fans were allowed to come watch the game in comparison to last year,” Duran said.

Last season fan attendance was limited due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The team lost the game 6-14.

The Bobcats face Brownsville Rivera tonight at 7:00 in Brownsville.
