The Varsity football team secured their playoff spot after their win against PSJA North. However, after a tough game against their playoff opponent, the Los Fresnos Falcons, the outcome was not in our favor.

“We all just wanted to do our best and not make errors so we could advance. It was always a great feeling when we stopped them from scoring. We might not have won, but there’s always next year,” junior, Emmanuel Salinas said.

The boys worked together with the same goal in mind which strengthened their drive to never give up.

“It felt good to make it to playoffs because that was one of our goals, but we were kind of sad not being able to advance and continue playing,” junior, Matthew Cruz said.

The underclassmen can still work hard and prepare for the following year but, for the seniors it was their last season and last playoff game making it a bittersweet experience.

“We did not win, but it was great being able to play in the playoffs because it was my last year. Having this opportunity was meaningful,” senior, Ramiro Avitia, said. “I will always remember playing next to my brothers and running out of the tunnel together.”

Those who will stay are determined to make it to the playoffs once again and advance even further.

“We had a good year and for those who are returning we can learn from this past year and hopefully do better next year,” Cruz said.
