With their last district play, the Varsity Volleyball team earned the District Champion title. They completed this by having the best record against their district opponents.

Winning district takes commitment.

“Winning district is a great honor,and it means a lot with regard to all the hours put forth during the summer to prepare for the season,” Head Coach, Mrs. Dominguez said.

Senior, Renee Ponce weighed in on how it felt winning district.

“Our team worked so hard to get there, and it felt like we were walking on water,” Ponce said.

The race in district was very close.

“We lost against North but we never lost against Vela placing us above Vela who was previously number 1 in the district,” Ponce said.

With that loss the team learned to persevere through the trials.

“Our team faced a lot of adversity from lack of experience, to learning to work together, to learning the difference between injury and pain tolerance, learning to balancing the demands being a varsity team member,” Dominguez said.

The team lost the first round of district play against Harlingen South.
