At 9:30 in the evening of October, 26th the Bobcat band and colorguard performed their show titled Queen at the 2017 Pigskin Jubilee hosted at the Mchi Stadium. They received a division 1; the highest ranking that can possibly be earned.

The students and directors had been preparing for this competition since the summer, so when the results were announced they were beyond proud that their blood, sweat, and tears had been worth it.

“It’s not about the rating. It’s about the kids and how they feel about their accomplishment.” Mr. Rogers, head band director, said.

Their performance of Queen was one to remember. For the seniors this was their last Pigskin, and that made it a much more meaningful moment.

“It felt bittersweet performing for the last time in front of a huge crowd. I will always remember marching ‘Somebody To Love’ because it was such a touching piece,” senior, Sergio De La Cruz, said.

The Colorguard was also present and they couldn’t have been more grateful for the way the competition turned out. They have put in an equal amount of their time and effort to make Queen a great success.

“Being on the field and marching beside the band is an indescribable moment, I have always wanted to do this since I was little,” junior, Maritza Reyes said.

At the end of the day, the band and Colorguard become one on the field with one shared goal in mind.

“This could never have been accomplished without the hard work from all the kiddos,” Mr. Rogers, said “getting a division 1 was just the icing on the cake.” This year’s Pigskin Jubilee was a triumph.
