Last month, the cheer team attended the National Cheer Association (NCA) High School Competition in Dallas, Texas and won the championship title. This was the sixth time any Bobcat cheer team has won the title.

“I felt really honored and grateful to represent my school in such a big way,” junior Maddy Perez said.  “The team and I were really blessed to be at a level so prestigious as nationals. So it was a really good experience winning at such a high level.”

For Rebecca Velasquez, a sophmore, the experience was exhilarating.

”We put so much time and effort into practicing, and it was so exciting and exhilarating to get out there and put all of our hard work on the mat,” Velasquez said.

To prepare the team had practice everyday at 6:45 am.

For freshmen Emily Morin being on this team has taught her to be a better person.

”It’s taught me to be a better person, someone with pride and dignity,” Morin said.

The team will attend next year to defend their title.
