Last month, FFA members participated in the STAR competition in which several students placed.

Seniors Tanya Hernandez placed as the Reserve Grand Champion and Delilah Guerrero placed First Champion and Breed Champion. Freshman, Amanda Balderas placed 4th out of 14 pigs showed in her class.

Competitors were placed by breed and class. The top five advanced in the competition.

“It just depends on what the judge likes to determine if you advance,” Hernandez said.

Despite the competitiveness of the event, the STAR show also allowed the Bobcats to have some fun.

“I showed and then hung out with my friends and family,” Guerrero said.
