To begin the Homecoming festivities, spirit week started on October 15th. Students were allowed to dress up in different costumes to show their school spirit. The dress up days were as follows: Monday- movie character, Tuesday- nerds vs. jocks, Wednesday- wacky tacky, Thursday-old vs. young, and Friday- school spirit.

On that Monday many students dressed as their favorite character. One of the characters represented was John Bender from the Breakfast Club. Dressing up as him provided to be a bit of a challenge for Samantha Ybarra. Although she found suitable clothing in her closet, playing this rebel like character was challenging because she is the complete opposite.

“I had most of the clothes in my closet and I just threw them together,” Ybarra said.

The Nerd vs. Jock day was the next spirit day. Putting together an outfit for a nerd was on the agenda for Aaliyah Guerreiro . Senior Aaliyah Guerrero went to different stores to find a white button up shirt, red suspenders, and a red bow tie put together the outfit.

“I see myself as a nerd and I thought it would be more fun to bring it out,” Guerrero said.

Wednesday came around with a twist for Wacky Tacky day. Senior Catherine Hernandez wore Christmas shorts on top of jeans, a Halloween themed t-shirt, different colored vans shoes on each foot, and different long socks that went up on each leg.

“I decided to dress up to support my school and to show Bobcat spirit,” Hernandez said.

Thursday was the Old vs.Young day. This gave the upperclassmen (old) and the lowerclassmen (young) a time to compete as well as have some fun.

“I bought an old lady dress from Walmart and grey hair paint to put it all together,” senior, Jeselle Ochoa said.

Friday, the last day, students showed off their pride sporting mums and garters. They varied from person to person. Deciding on a mum using the traditional school colors of red and blue or using silver and white was a task for senior, Xochitl Rodriguez. In the end, she went with using silver and white as it signified her senior year.

“ I was actually really excited to wear my mum because this was my first time wearing a mum,” Rodriguez said.
