As the year comes to a close, all field trips, ceremonies, and banquets rewarding students for their hard work commences. On May 21st, the Top 10% of the 2018 graduating class attended a banquet honoring their ambition and dedication to remain a top student throughout their four years of high school.

“I felt proud to be a part of ECISD and a part of the EHS class of 2018. I’ll always remember the faces of the proud parents of the Top 10% graduates,” senior, Lily Pena said.

The banquet was held at the McAllen Convention Center where the four high schools of Edinburg gathered to celebrate. The honored students were allowed to invite family and friends to share in the experience.

“It was a very honoring moment to not only have my accomplishments recognized but to have my parents by my side and know that I’ve done something to make them proud,” senior, Jazmin Hernandez said.

The top 10%  walked across the stage to receive their honorary plaque and two chords. The two chords they received will be worn on their graduation day to distinguish them for their honorary achievements from the rest of their class.

“Its crazy thinking back to freshman year and growing up with all these people working towards the same goal as you,” senior, Leslie Torres said, “Attending this banquet was just more proof to me that everything is coming to an end and I hope that we all become even more successful.”
