The varsity softball team  received the city championship title for the second time in the row on April 13 after winning their game against Edinburg North High School.

Beating Edinburg North and Vela in the first round of district play, another round followed. The second round of district was right around the corner, creating another challenge to be tackled.

“We knew we had to get through the first round but getting through the second round was another obstacle,” senior Amber Reyes, said.

Not only did the girls receive the City Championship Title, but also the District title and first seat in the playoffs.

“It’s all through hard work,” softball coach Ramon Arciba, said. “The girls go out there day in and day out and practice.”

Even though the team lost key members last year, they continued to excel with their new additions.

“Even though we lost some key players from last season’s team, we’ve had some girls step up to the plate this year and do a tremendous job,” Arciba said.
