On April 7th, the Colorguard placed 6th at their state competition in Kingsville, where they performed their show Finding Faith.

“We beat schools that had more experience when majority of our team are first year Colorguard members, so coming out on top made us realize that hard work really does pay off,” senior Sergio De La Cruz, said. “It was a competition I will always remember because of our big accomplishment.”

The team placed 1st and 2nd in their competitions despite being a rookie group.

“It was an overall emotional experience, we worked hard to earn our spot with the big teams. It took every ounce of dedication and determination to get where we are now,” junior Maritza Reyes, said.

Colorguard held practices every day right after school up until the last day before competition to make sure they had their routine perfected.

“The entire team gave many hours to practice in hopes of meeting our goals. Placing in state was proof that hard work really makes a difference, and success is sure to continue,” De La Cruz said.
