Three seniors of the varsity wrestling team ended their season with a trip to Houston for their annual state meet on February 23rd and came back with a great experience and a glimpse of their true competition.

The atmosphere of the meet was the most impactful aspect of the experience as a whole, and it helped build enthusiasm for competing.

“It was an awesome experience. You just had to be there,” senior Ramon Lopez said. “There was so many people and the stadium was huge.”

If Lopez could attend the meet again, he would face it with better skill and determination.

“I would work on my offensive skills with harder training,” Lopez said. “Ultimately, it’s all hard work you need to put in yourself.”

The members left in awe of the competition and the energy they met in the meet, and still managed to bring back a standing.

“It was a tough tournament, nothing compared to local competitions,” senior Maria Rangel said. “I ended up ranking ninth in state.”

Ultimately, the Bobcats came back home with an experience like no other.
